Climb Chimborazo Volcano Summit

Climb Chimborazo Volcano Summit, the highest mountain in Ecuador and on the planet, when measured from the center of the earth – it is also the closest point to the sun. The ascent to the highest summit takes 2 days. We recommend adequate acclimatization to altitude to ensure the best chances of a successful summit attempt.

Day 1: Machachi 3,000 masl – High Camp, Chimborazo 5,300 masl
Our Climb Chimborazo Volcano Summit trip will start after checking our climbing equipment we leave at 10:00am in our private transport, in 2 hours we arrive in Ambato where we have lunch at a local restaurant.  We then continue for a little over an hour to the Chimborazo car park, where we organize our backpacks and walk for at least 3 hours to arrive at the high camp, located at 5,300 masl. We have hot drinks, and dinner is at around 17:30pm, we then rest until 22:00pm.

Day 2: High Camp 5,300 masl – Chimborazo summit 6,310 masl – return to Machachi
After a light breakfast and packing, we start out ascent at 23:00pm. We pass by the rock formation ‘el Castillo’ and the moraine to arrive at the glacier, where we take in the beauty of the surroundings and then continue to arrive at the first summit Veintimilla 6,260 masl, at dawn. Here we rest and gather energy to continue for an hour more towards the true summit, Whimper, at 6,310 masl. We take many photos of the spectacular views and volcanoes that surround us and then descend by the same route to the high camp, which takes around 3 – 4 hours. After packing up all of our equipment we continue the descent and in 2 hours we are back at our transport which takes us back to Machachi.
